Most of us have been impacted by a cancer in some capacity, my family is certainly no exception. 

My Dad, Ray Sheler, had both Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and then lost his battle to Multiple Myeloma. My grandmother, Marie Sheler, lost her fight to Leukemia. My uncle, Alan Wizer, lost his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. One of my forever friends’ moms, Judy Rabe, lost her fight to Leukemia.  My beautiful cousin, Marcella Sheler, fought Leukemia and is now a two-time cancer survivor! 

Blood cancers hit home to me in a way I just can’t describe.  I want to fight for my family, and this cause is so close to my heart. This terrible disease has tormented my family and I want to fight back and help those that are dealing with that fight now. Like many of you, I have witnessed first-hand the debilitating effects that Leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma can have on those who suffer from these blood cancers, and on the friends and family who care for and nurture their loved ones.

There are many reasons to be proud to support LLS’s efforts.  For instance, LLS has helped advance 70% of the blood cancer treatment options approved by the FDA.  Many of these LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now approved to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.  They’re even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers, and non-cancerous diseases such as diabetes and lupus.

This is an organization that is making an impact with every dollar it raises, and I’m proud to be associated with LLS.
